naturally i have wavy hair...but its not the kind of wavy i want..its like poofy and frizzy..i usually streighten it but for halloween i need it to look nice while being curly. how do i use a curling iron to make it look really good?

What I always do is instead of using the curling iron the usual way you would, wrap the hair around the OUTSIDE of the barrel. Don't wrap it all the way, like leave an inch or so at the ends (well, you have to have something to hold anyway!) and it will look really natural, it's like soft waves and very pretty. It's kind of hard because you have to hold the hair yourself instead of using that little arm or lever or whatever, but it's really pretty.

And for the frizzy...try John Freida Frizz-Ease if you haven't. It's great and inexpensive...put it in your hair when your hair is DRIPPING wet, like right out of the shower, just wring it out barely so the ends aren't literally dripping onto your back, and then work it through your hair...it only takes a TINY bit...if your hair is short use like a nickel size, if it's longer about a quarter size. You have to put it in your hair sopping wet to get it to work right, if your hair doesn't have enough water in it it will get all flat and greasy.

You really don't curl wavy hair, it doesn't come out well. Use an anti-frizz shampoo so that it'll be less poofy and straighter, then curl it.

I have the same type hair. This is what I do. After washing/conditioning. I use a a cream/with Chi Oil and Paul Mitchell skinny serum. I put all in the palm of my hand and work through my damp hair. I let it air dry for about 20 minutes, then blow dry the rest, while scrunching. Once it's thoroughly dry, I use a one inch curling iron to curl strands. Some medium strands, some thin. AFter, I spray them with a finishing gloss spray. VOILA!!!

First do your layers. Curl your bottom layer first and work your way to the top. Separate the bottom layer into 3 parts: the two sides and the back. You can either roll it down or just let go. If you want wavy, roll it down. If you want curly, let go of the grasping handle thing. Repeat for each part and each layer.

Using small sections, curl your hair. That will give you more curls. Once your hair is curled, let the curls cool completely before you brush through your hair or use a pick on it. The set will stay in longer.

curl it with a curling iron, but down curl it too long. just curl each piece for about a sec or 2. then after curling it, comb it out with your fingers. this will make it more wavy. also dont use hairspray! it mkaes it look greasyyy - the more natural looking, the better!
