Naturally straight hair turned wavy upon puberty?

I'm a Filipino guy in his late 20's. When I was younger I had really really thin, straight hair up until puberty (about 13 years old) when my hair started to get really thick and wavy. Now I am stuck to short to medium-length haircuts. I have, since my younger years, wanted to grow my hair long, back then I couldn't do it because it was against school regulations. Now I can no longer do it because it creates waves when it gets too long.

The same thing is true with my younger brother who is on his early 20's. He had really straight, thin hair till he hit 18 years old. This leads me to think it is genetic.

1. What happened to my hair?

2. Is there any way to get my old hair back naturally?

Like, I can have it rebonded but deep inside I feel that my hair is rightfully straight and I should be able to somehow straighten it without using chemicals since I've had it when I was young.

I had thick straight hair until I was in my 30s. Then it turned wavy and I cannot wear it straight without blow drying it straight. And you are right, the longer it gets, the wavier it gets. I never got a good explanation for this. It is odd that it happened to your brother also (so it does sound genetic). Mine must not be as the same thing did NOT happen to my sister or brother.

You can't fight your genes. This sometimes happens to people who lost their hair due to sickness or chemo. They can also experience a color change. You'll have to stop thinking about what was %26amp; find a style with the hair you have now and then learn to love it.

some people grow up to have their hair color change, too.

I know what your going through - my hair was like waves getting bigger and bigger as it came to my forehead, then curled up if I left it too long. It changed now. I guess its how you play with different hairstyles, your hair may get used to a certain style ( or lack of one, in this case it may grow wild)

*** TIP ***

after you get out of the shower, put a winter hat on. let it dry.

it will be flat and no frizz.
