I use steam rollers to make my hair wavey, and I do this every day. I like them better because I can use it in a rush (use on dry hair, sets in 5 minutes, don't worry about getting burned!), it doesn't damage your hair the way curling irons do, and looks more natural. Go to a beauty supply and look for Carusso steam rollers or revlon makes a set that is ionic as well (ions help smooth and shine the hair!).

If you are saying you want wavy hair, I always have preferred rollers. It depends on how much curl you want and the texture of your hair. I have fine texture, so the rollers are less damaging.

Rollers give a more "mature look" for hair that's set. If you use an Iron, it will give a more trendy youthful look. You'd be amazed how many ways there to curl the hair with an iron.

One helpful tip, when curling,...alternate the curls from one way to the opposite. It looks more natural.

I think when you wash your hair you should braid it. When your hair is completely dry, take the braids out and voila! You have wavy hair. Best part is its free. =] Good luck!!
