i had the same problem and i fixed it easily by cutting my hair in short layers....everyone loved it and now its easy to get waves in my hair.Just wet your hair and put gel, once the gel has dried spray an even layer of hairspray over your hair....it'll stay for the whole day....I promise

Take a shower at night, and then braid it. Put soft curling gel in it, and go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, if your hair is not completely dry, blow dry it, thenh take the braids out. Don't brush our hair, but run your fingers through it to separate it and make sure it's not knotted.

there are many ways

-braid ur hair while its wet and sleep with em (do multiple braids for smaller waves and bigger braids for bigger waves)

-while ur hair is wet using ur hands scrunch ur hair all over and then spray ur wet hair with some hair spray then go to bed or let em dry

-get a good mousse that was rated well

-with wet hair take small sections of your hair and twist them into mini buns, use a bobby pin and pin it to ur head, do many of these

but since ur hair is straight it may be best to just curl it with an iron, if u dont have time in the morn, u could just curl ur hair the night before, they should make it through the night!
