you could crimp it but it wouldn't be a very even wavy. when you get out of the shower you can finger-comb it then use some hair product to hold it in place (bed head products work really well) for "beachy" waves.

i would suggest aussie's catch the wave leavein conditioner mousse. its light but after putting it in damp hair, will leave your hair soft and with more texture and wave. seriously!!!!! nothing works for me but this stuff does, so you should try it.
